Hello from Sixty7.green…

It’s Spring! (at least in the north). And what better way to herald in a new season than a good old-fashioned solar eclipse - for all you Americans, Canadians and Mexicans, that is.

For us at Sixty7.green, this recent planet and star phenomenon had us reflecting on the fragility of life and served as a talking point about our place in the universe. That and the need to care for nature, ourselves and our fragile planet.

Global warming or boiling as I recently heard it referred to by former UK Chief Scientist, Sir David King, is here more quickly than we ever imagined. This boiling is resulting in more freak weather and impacting every corner of the globe. The Dubai airport ‘sea’ image is still fresh in my mind!

More reality, than fake news, is that 50 million tonnes of ice per hour is being lost from Greenland with Arctic heating 4 times the rate experienced elsewhere on the planet. Definite climate doom and gloom I’m afraid. As I heard Baroness Natalie Bennet, recently quip, we need to Change Everything. And talk of AI and technologies offering some glimmer of hope whilst good, shouldn’t deflect from the fact that change is needed now and more than ever before.

For this edition, we are going to focus on a few news stories that keep us going at Sixty7.green because we will never give up hope! We highlight an incredible network of people doing good right now. We cover a remarkable company putting sustainability at the heart of brand and creativity. And we introduce Louise Aston who is putting health and wellbeing at the heart of our approach to ESG.

Hope you enjoy the arrival of a new season and this edition containing images from a recent trip to abroad where per capita footprints are low and life seems abundantly happy.

Q & A with Sophia Owens, BITC Alumni Project Lead for Sixty7.Green

Back in November 2021 as part of Business in the Community’s 40th Anniversary celebrations, Sixty7.Green was commissioned to help design, develop and deliver the BITC Alumni Network - a responsible business force for good.

What do we do

At Sixty7.green, we are part of the Remarkably team - they inspired us and now we are helping them to inspire others. We provide an external sustainability and ESG voice and decades-long expertise. We complement Remarkably's core competencies with a focus on the climate emergency, social impact and good governance. Most recently we are assisting some of their clients on the B-Corp journey and helping them reduce carbon emissions. With their help, we will continue to explore ways to make the world an even more remarkable place to live in, now and in the future.

Sixty7.green is thrilled to be appointed advisers to family-owned HEMSEC - one of the UK’s leading composite insulated panel manufacturers. We are excited because this historic SME located in Merseyside and Liverpool is on a journey of discovery.

HEMSEC wants Remarkably and Sixty7.green to work alongside them to build a more responsible product, a future brand that gives a nod to the environment and to the people they work with. We are guiding Hemsec on their B-Corp journey, advising on building their carbon baseline for Scopes 1, 2 and 3, and informing on core sustainability competencies within the company by identifying and supporting their future champions.

Sixty7.green is excited to welcome Louise Aston to the team. Louise brings a multi-award-winning approach to workplace health and wellbeing by relentlessly campaigning to establish mental health and wellbeing as non-negotiable boardroom imperatives.

She is joining Sixty7.Green because she is passionate about bridging the sustainability connection between people and planet, emphasising the need for adopting a whole organisation and intersectional approach.
